   Hi

   Can you answer a query?

   What type of licence (if any) do I need to sell fine wine online? The wine would be delivered from a bonded warehouse in the UK but the orders would be processed from my office at home. I would want to supply private individuals, restaurants and other wine retailers. I would also want to do wine tastings and sell wine at those tastings at clubs, restaurants etc. (some of which may hold licences but others may not).

   I’d be very grateful for your advice.

   Hi Steve thanks for your query.
   I have asked to answer this query for you by Alcohol Licence.org
   If you are making sales from your office but no alcohol is actually dispatched from there, you will need a personal licence. I assume that the bonded warehouse has a premises licence and DPS.
   If you do wine tastings at venues then I you will not require a premises licence as you are giving the alcohol away and you are not required to be licensed to give away alcohol, only retail it. If you wish to make sales as a result of the tasting session, then the premises where you are at that time will need to be licensed. If the premises does not hold a premises licence, then you will need to apply for a Temporary Event Notice at least 10 working days in advance of the event.

   Hi
   I am planning to sell wines online, with distribution from a bonded warehouse in the UK. Sales will be to private consumers who order online. There will be no sales from any premises that I operate from, nor will there be any face to face sales.

   What kind of licensing will I need for this situation.

   Do you mean ALL of the licensed premises in the UK? That’s a tall order…. Premises are licensed by local authorities, not nationally, so as far as I am aware there is no central database. You could try constructing your own database by contacting every local authority in the country (assuming they will cooperate), but licences are granted and withdrawn every day, so it would probably be Impracticable.
