Licence Renewal Update

On Friday the 27th of March 2015 the Home office confirmed that the renewal of a personal alcohol licence would be abolished in England & Wales. Accordingly any personal licence due for renewal on or before the 1st of April 2015 will now not need to be renewed. The Home Office will also confirm in official guidance to the police and other responsible authorities to disregard the renewal date on all existing personal licences in England and Wales.

In Scotland which has it’s own licensing Act, mandatory training after five years of a personal licence being granted is still a legal requirement . If training is not completed within the required time then a Scottish Licensing Board will revoke the licence. There is no requirement for retraining in England & Wales.
