PLT increase course frequency in major cities for 2016

Due to the ever increasing number of people requiring a personal licence, PLT have increased the number of APLH and SCPLH licensing law courses in major cities across the United Kingdom. The high demand for these courses has led to weekly training sessions being held in Edinburgh, Glasgow and throughout London. The popularity and excellent locations of these training courses in other major cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds to name a few has also seen extra venues and more frequent course dates added for 2016.

New licensing law course locations have been added to to Cricklewood and Wembley in London an additional location has also been added for Stevenage in Hertfordshire. Changes to existing course locations include new hotel venues in Peterborough and Northampton where candidates can undertake a one day training course on Licensing law for the alcohol licensing qualification known as the Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH) level 2

To sell alcohol in the UK every outlet must have both a premise licence and at least one personal licence holder, however many Licensing Authorities and Police may insist that some licensed premises have several personal licence holders on site.

In Scotland the law is slightly more robust concerning members of staff involved in the retail sale of alcohol. Under Scottish law any member of staff selling or serving alcohol must undertake minimum basic training on the Scottish licensing Act 2005. A spokes person for Personal Licence Training (UK) Ltd said “We have also seen an increase in our online Scottish Certificate for Licensed Premises Staff (SCLPS) over the Christmas period and into the new year. This is an ideal learning tool for any premises manager or corporate client in Scotland where premises staff require basic training on alcohol licensing law as it covers all 16 units required under the Act”.

Courses can booked online via the PLT website at
