Fishcross pub warned after teenager’s Facebook party

A pub has received a formal warning after a 16-year-old girl was able to book a private function at the venue which ended in drunken chaos.

The teenager arranged the event at the Ochilview pub in Fishcross, Clackmannanshire, in October 2010.

Dozens of uninvited guests turned up after the Hallowe’en party was advertised on Facebook.

Disorder broke out and it took police an hour to disperse a large crowd outside the pub.

Officers also found a 15-year-old boy in a nearby garden who had to be taken home to Stirling because he was so drunk.

Clackmannanshire Licensing Board heard evidence from the chief constable of Central Scotland Police, who said there had been a “lack of proper stewarding” at the event on 23 October 2010.

The board also heard from a solicitor acting for the pub’s license holder, who admitted it had been a “disastrous function”.

The pub said it had made a “number of improvements” after the party to prevent a recurrence.

Board convener Walter McAdam said: “The board takes this sort of incident very seriously.

“However, in light of the steps taken by the premises licence holder to correct the failings caused by the incident, the board determined that a warning letter to the licensee was appropriate.”
